Our foals are imprinted at birth. The time Big Apple Farms takes immediately after foaling, benefits you and your horse for a lifetime! The imprinting continues after foaling. They are lightly handled on a daily basis until weaning. This quality of contact between human and horse develops a foal that respects human beings, stands for the farrier and is easily handled for the veterinarian. By starting these young foals so early, they will carry this early training through their entire lives. Simply, they grow up to be a Saddlebred that has learned trust of humans the gentle way.
We also believe that creating early social skills is just as important with other horses as it is with humans. From birth to weaning, from training to the show ring, we raise our foals in facilities that keep the foal safe while maintaining the horse's need of being a herd animal.
